It’s hard to imagine an everyday or sporty style without this wardrobe piece. The idea of the hoodie was born in 1930 by the brand "Champion", which is why the USA is considered the homeland of this garment. Over the years, the hoodie has become a piece that symbolizes comfort and warmth—and that’s no coincidence. Nowadays, however, there are so many models that sometimes it’s hard to distinguish a hoodie from a sweatshirt. To avoid getting confused in the store, it’s important to know that a hoodie usually has a hood with a zipper or drawstrings that adjust its position. This is convenient when you want to tighten or fold the hood. In the table below I’ll show you the distinctive features of the hoodie:

The charm of this garment lies in the hood and the drawstrings, so it’s important to learn to tie them properly. For a classic look, pull the two hood strings to the same length. Tie a simple knot by crossing the two strings and tightening the knot. If you want something different that accents the strings, pull both ends again so they’re equal in length. You can make a triple tie for a more decorative effect. In street style you don’t need to tie them. Just let the two ends of the cord fall freely from the hood down. Bows also look nice, but use them depending on the occasion you’re invited to.
This is my favorite garment on cold days because of the fabric and the cut of the model. When I hear "hoodie", I immediately imagine warmth, softness, and incomparable comfort. I say comfort because when I put on a hoodie, nothing presses my body and it’s as if I’m wrapped in a soft quilt. My kindred spirits will understand me! Most often it is made from light and warm materials such as cotton, polyester, fleece, or blended fabrics. Don’t worry, designers have thought about summer too. A summer hoodie can be made from cotton, linen, thin polyester or another fabric that provides good ventilation. The denim hoodie has also been very popular in the last few years, so don’t overlook it!

Although the hoodie is a low-maintenance garment, it’s important to include it properly in our look in 2026. You should know that the white hoodie “likes” neutral colors, so you should go for them. For example, if you want to create an elegant everyday look, choose track pants in black or gray. You can also choose denim shorts, but then put on long socks. Leggings are also a good option because they will create harmony with the hoodie. In summer add sneakers, and in winter — boots. Accessories in this look can be a cap, large headphones or sunglasses. They will give a finished look to the outfit. If you want to create a classic street style, then add skinny black jeans and a leather jacket to your white hoodie. An oversized coat in gray or black with white sneakers is also a good option. A watch and minimalist jewelry are suitable for this look. Although the hoodie was created for more casual styles, that doesn’t mean you can’t create modern styles with it. For example, the combination of a white hoodie with wide high-waisted trousers would create an extremely elegant and modern style. A pleated skirt combined with heeled ankle boots would also be suitable for more formal events. You can add sunglasses and a thin gold chain. Super sexy would look the oversized combination of a knee-length hoodie and high boots. Although I find monochrome looks a bit boring, you can add white trousers and white sneakers to the white hoodie. A monochrome look in black, however, is a classic.
An all-black look is suitable for both men and women. If you want to break up this look, put on a denim jacket with a simple cut. This way you will look really modern and you can easily go out for coffee or to a restaurant dressed like this. If you want to look even more formal, add a long gray blazer to this look. Of course, sneakers here are also the best friends of the black hoodie. The accessories are the same as with the white hoodie. Models with prints are also extremely popular lately. Some of the biggest hoodie manufacturers know this, so they often include hoodies with different prints in their collections.
This is yet another universal color that can be combined with almost anything. Add to the gray hoodie a baseball cap and wide black trousers and here you have a great street style look. If you remove the cap and add elegant shoes or loafers, as well as a watch and a leather bag, you’re ready even for the most luxurious events. The monochrome outfit is also allowed here. You can add gray trousers or jeans. Don’t pay attention to my torn drawstring in the photo below. (This hoodie is 8 years old, haha.)

Broken Planet hoodie. This is one of my favorite brands because of the quality of the clothes and the message they carry. Very often "Broken Planet" include interesting graphic elements in their models, such as planets or stars.
Other popular brands worth paying attention to are: "Stüssy", "Adanola", "Nike", "Trapstar", "Carhartt", "Ralph Lauren" and others.
A hoodie has a hood and usually drawstrings or a zipper; a sweatshirt can be without a hood. With a hoodie, the emphasis is on comfort and warmth.
For a classic look, align both ends and tie a simple knot. For emphasis—triple tying. In street style, let the drawstrings fall freely. A bow is suitable depending on the occasion.
For cold weather: cotton, polyester, fleece or blended fabrics. For summer: cotton, linen, thin polyester and other breathable fabrics. A denim hoodie is a modern, more structured option.
White: with neutrals, wide trousers or sneakers. Black: all-black, denim jacket or long gray coat. Gray: street look with a baseball cap or elegant with loafers and a leather bag.
